It is too bad that the media have been largely ignoring Tony Avella, and instead going to print with news releases from political handlers from the Thompson team, or pandering to the delusional nonsense of Bloomberg.

Tony Avella is smart, decisive, and not beholden to special interest groups. He is a progressive Democrat who cares about this city, its neighborhoods, and its people. You can't say that about Bloomberg, and Thompson is another lacklustre product of the establishment--and with no credentials.

Brooklyn residents, and others who are coasting along in a wave of complacency, need to wake up before it is too late, and make sure they learn more about the mayoral candidates, including Tony Avella. Do you really want more of Bloomberg?

Do something good for New York City: Vote for Tony Avella.

Tony Avella is the most dynamic, inspired and ethical candidate running for office. He has great ideas (about education, overdevelopment, taxes) and is not part of the establishment. Unfortunately, it is so typical of this city’s political establishment that Thompson is the “machine” candidate of choice.

Voting for Thompson is a guarantee that Bloomberg will be reelected.

The media, which is largely made up of “reporters” who run with someone’s press release are an uninspired bunch who do not give Avella much coverage -- so I thank you for this report. They write about Thompson as if it were a done deal. But anyone who has heard Tony speak and has taken the time to learn about him likes what they see.

That Bloomberg pushed through the extension of term limits ignoring the will of the people - coupled with the nonsense going on in the state capital can turn anyone off voting ever again.

Tony Avella – as the most ethical member of the City Council - led the charge against the extension of term limits. He is not afraid to speak out on unpopular issues, which has made him unpopular with his colleagues – many of whom will not go against the corrupt Christine Quinn.

We need a big change in this city, which is becoming more and more difficult to live in.

Please vote for Avella in the primary. He is truly a man of the people. Volunteer for his campaign. Google him and you will get the campaign website.

Avella is a shallow, mushmouth know-nothing with a cynical mean streak. I actually agree with him on the development issue, but I still wouldn't vote for him in a million years.

Tony Avella is right. We, the residents of NYC who are not developers, need an advocate to change the game rules. Who said all the boros have to look, feel and smell like the canyons of Manhattan?
It might just take an outlier like Tony Avella to think outside the box and know how to make NY come alive again. He's right- NYC has its roots in the low scale communities, not in the hotels and high rises mimicking a Monopoly board.
Just like the rest of us who might sincerely want to have new housing for seniors, affordable housing options and a sky to see above the buildings, Avella has been pushed out of the headlines and his message minimized.
All the same, Tony Avella is right. His world view and values build on the community, the bedrock of NYC. IMHO, his time has come.
