W’burg Flea Market: Music, Mustard, and More

Last Sunday was the launch of Williamsburg Flea Market and I ventured to the outdoor lot on South 2nd & Wythe, near the Williamsburg Bridge, to browse through the goods wide and varied. I bought a vintage dress for $15, sampled the most delicious mustard on the planet, savored raw chocolate ice cream, drank free beer, refrained from buying accessories I don’t need, and marveled at tiny plants that grow out of thin air.  Highlights after the jump.

The cutest most miniature tarts you’ll find on this side of town. I recommend you try the passion fruit dlite: passion fruit curd in a chocolate bed with coconut shreds sprinkled on top.

What could possibly be sexier than body organs hanging around your neck?

I’ve never been a fan of mustard but McClure’s mustard has won me over. Each bite hits you with pops of mustard seed and zaps you with spicy flavor.

These vegan and eco-friendly beauty products are rich and aromatic without being indulgent, the chamomile & lavender scent brought a whiff of soothing relaxation.

I know of no other brand that makes raw chocolate or ice cream. Their bons bons are bite size chunks of heaven, truffle-like in texture and consistency but more moist and chewy. Divine.

A plant-laden vendor had a layout of free-standing plants with no roots or soil. They’re called air plants and can be perched on your windowsill to grow without a pot.

I should also mention there was free beer, music, and bocce court set up in the back with a lounge area near the entrance. The market would potentially draw in a lot more people if they brought the music and dance to the front and lure passer-bys to enter. It would also be amazing if there was a BBQ grill set up in the back by the bocce court. I wouldn’t need to go anywhere else for the rest of the summer.

Williamsburg Flea Market is located in a lot on Wythe between South 2nd and 3rd every Sunday from 10 – 6pm. Make sure to check them out.
