On Sunday, North Brooklyn residents welcomed the NYC marathon. Excited spectators cheered from the sidelines, and musicians provided musical interludes.
Out there, too, bright and early, were members of the North Brooklyn Runner’s Club, dolling out water and gatorade at mile 12 (N. 12th St). Nineteen of their own members ran in this year’s marathon, while many of them stayed behind to serve the racers.

“Water! Gatorade!” volunteers yelled, handing out the precious, liquid-filled cups to outstretched hands speeding past them. By 10 am, the marathoners came through in full force, creating an infectious energy. It’s always a rush! Congrats to the Grnpt/Wlsbrg residents who particpated, and all the people who volunteered.
