The explosive growth of high-tech firms in NYC is signaling the birth of new 21st-century technology that is replacing the moribund and defunct blue collar manufacturing of the 20th century. Brooklyn’s DUMBO can attest to the successful conversion of manufacturing and warehouse buildings into high-tech firms. Even downtown Brooklyn will spawn additional high-tech facilities, as New York University is interested in establishing its applied science and urban facility at the former New York City Transit building on Jay Street. I propose that the ideal location for new high-tech expansion be in Williamsburg-Greenpoint, which has a number of advantages over DUMBO, downtown Brooklyn, and Roosevelt Island....

Want to join that invisible art world phenomenon called "The Dialogue"? Find yourself a middle-aged lady who curates. Sorry to be so blunt, but it's true. My own statistical research has proved it....

I’m not big on conspiracy theories, though you’ve got to wonder if the mere slap on the wrist architect Robert Scarano received had anything to do with politics. Was the City using Scarano to accomplish their notsohidden agenda to remake Brooklyn into high density, highrise neighborhoods? The best the City accomplished was to take away Scarano’s ability to professionally certify his filings with the Department of Buildings. The City did not go after his architect’s license, which is what was demanded by the public. So in essence, the bad get rewarded; his license (017739) to practice architecture is still active.
