This Saturday afternoon, the McCarren Park Dog Run is the place to be, for the 2nd Annual Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume + Trick Contest from 1 – 4pm. The weatherman is forecasting 55 degrees with plenty of sunshine, so get Fido gussied up and head on over for a fabulous October afternoon.
Get to the starting line by 9 am at the East River State Park this Sunday to cheer on 200 half-marathoner runners in the inaugural Brooklyn Greenway Half.
Local groups join to lead a day of cleaning up trees in Maria Hernandez Park, followed by a picnic in the park with lunch available to buy from vegan Ethiopian pop-up Bunna Cafe. We can’t imagine a more beautiful time of year for a Saturday in the park.
The 4th annual Taste Williamsburg-Greenpoint Food Fest took place last Sunday at the East River State Park. Over 40 local businesses—restaurants, wine shops, artisanal food producers—showed their flags and cooking chops.
Today, the Brooklyn Greenway Initiative (BGI), along with cities, artists, activists and citizens around the globe will temporarily transform metered parking spaces into public parks and other social spaces, as part of an annual event called “PARK(ing) Day.”
